India and Australia are gearing up for another face-off, this time in a five-match Twenty20 series, shortly after their encounter in the ICC Cricket World Cup final.

The series is set to kick off on Thursday in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, followed by matches in Thiruvananthapuram on November 26, Guwahati on November 28, Bengaluru on December 1, and Raipur on December 3.

In a strategic move, both teams have opted to rest several key players, reshuffling their line-ups. Suryakumar Yadav, a middle-order batter, will take the reins as the captain of the Indian squad.

Interestingly, Yadav is one of only three players from the World Cup final team selected for the T20 series. This marks Yadav's debut as the captain of the Indian cricket team.

Adding to the leadership dynamics, Shreyas Iyer will step in as the vice-captain for the final two T20 matches in Raipur on December 1 and Bengaluru on December 5, as announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Meanwhile, Australia is also undergoing a shift in personnel, with veteran opener David Warner opting out of the series after an impressive performance in the World Cup, where he was Australia's leading scorer with 535 runs at an average of 48.63.

Warner's departure means that only seven members of Australia's World Cup-winning squad will remain in India for the T20 series, including players like Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, and Steve Smith.

The void left by Warner will be filled by all-rounder Aaron Hardie, who steps in for the upcoming series as Warner prepares to bid adieu to Test cricket.

Cricket Australia explained in a statement that the decision to send Warner home was based on the selectors' acknowledgment of his successful yet demanding World Cup campaign.

As both teams regroup and realign their strategies, the upcoming T20 series promises to be an intriguing sequel to their recent World Cup clash.
